October 2, 2006 -
Campus Media Group and The Detroit News recently wrapped up a back-to-school effort for IKEA that reached approximately 160,000 students on four Michigan campuses. The program involved hand-to-hand campus distribution of an IKEA circular that promoted dorm décor and gave students the chance to win free tuition and gift cards. IKEA also arranged bus transportation for students to visit a nearby IKEA location to shop for dorm furnishings and accessories.
The two-day, staffed event was handled by Campus Media Group and included Michigan State University, University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, Eastern Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, and Western Michigan University. Thirty thousand circulars were distributed hand-to-hand, some with issues of the Detroit News. Another 85 thousand were inserted into college newspapers.
